What is the COST OF Living in BANGKOK?

It's hard to answer for " is it expensive to live comfortably in Bangkok?" because the standard of cost living is different to each person. If I ask you 'how much do I have to have money to live in your hometown, you might be no easy to say. Therefore, in this writing, let me share my personal experience that I have been living in over 6 years about money that I spent for comfortable daily life. it could be one of things that you can refer when you make a plan to stay in Bangkok

1. Rent fee: Starting monthly 500 USD for single resident

I highly recommend you to rent a small room in modern condos. Condo is an abbreviation 'from Condominium. InThailand, people usually say this small apartment type as a 'condo'. you can easily find the room in condos in everywhere Bangkok city. It cost around 500 USD per month with 2 months refundable deposit.(but it depends on the room owners. some doesn't require deposit for just 1 ~2 months short term rent) It's around 30 sqm with 1 bed room, 1 restroom, 1 kitchen and small balcony.

If you have kids, there is 2 Bed room options with starting price, 1000 USD per month. It has clean rooms, modern style interiors and safety (24hours security guards and Digital entrance card system). and also you can use a swimming pool, gym, sauna, laundry room as good facilities. (some even has a library and gallery for resident)

2. Food price: 400 USD per month for 1 adults

Thai office workers' average lunch price in a local restaurant is around 1.5 USD (50 Baht). There are many good dishes that you can choose! For instance, fried lice with pork, noodles and fried pork with basil and rice and so on. It's much enough to get full with good taste.

However, let's think about the situation that you have to eat only local Thai for 1 months or longer. Can you? For someone it might be hard even if you are Thai food lover. So you have to visit somewhere you can find western food or global franchise restaurants where you have been eating in your country like Macdonald, KFC and Pizza Hut.

Luckly, in Bangkok it's super easy to find these restaurants. The matter is only price. The dishes costs as same with the restaurant in your country. For one meal, it cost around 10 ~ 40 USD (300 Baht ~ 1,000 Bath) Make a balance local food and restaurant's food. It would be around 400 USD per month for 1 adults.

3. Bills and others

Unlimited 4G mobile date price is around 40 USD (1000 Bath). Wifi in your room is around 10 USD (300 Bath) Monthly electric bill is 40 USD (1000 Bath, in condition you use small AC for every night) and water fee is 3 USD (100 Bath) and public transportation fee is 40 USD per months and other daily suppliers are around 80 USD (2000 Bath). The total is 210 USD

4. Travel Cost

This travel cost or hangout cost is totally depending on your life style, so it makes impossible to standardize. Let me share the some infos. of price for them. Drinking one bottle of a whiskey with 3~4 persons costs around 200 USD at clubs or pubs in Thonglor or Ekamai areas. One day trip cost in Pattaya city costs around 50USD per person. Entrance ticket of Grand palace Bangkok for foreigners is 20 USD and a movie ticket at weekend is around 12USD. Referring these price, you can make a budget plan for your travel cost.

5. Summary

Rent fee + Food price + Bills and daily supplies cost + α

500 USD + 400 USD + 210 USD  = 1,110 USD + @
